End of Year Administrative Changes within Franklin County Municipal Court
Judge Jessica D’Varga will be the Franklin County Municipal Court Administrative and Presiding Judge starting Jan. 1, 2024. D’Varga will replace Judge Mark Hummer who has served in the role for the past two years.
Starting on Friday, January 5, 2024 ALL Special Sessions will BEGIN on Fridays, including Arraignment Courtrooms 4C and 4D. The Special Session for Courtrooms 4C and 4D will begin on Fridays and run through the following Thursday. The Duty Room Special Session rotation will continue with a Friday 8:00 a.m. start, ending the following Friday at 8:00 a.m.
The Court’s policy concerning notifying parties of exhibit retrieval has also been updated: All parties are hereby notified that exhibits not retrieved will be destroyed sixty (60) days after litigation has concluded. Parties interested in retrieving their own exhibits after the conclusion of the case should contact the Court Reporter’s Office (firstname.lastname@example.org) to determine eligibility.
Lastly, Franklin County Municipal Court will also have an adjustment of court hours for the holidays. The court will close at noon on Friday, December 22 and Friday, December 29 and will be closed on Monday, December 25 and Monday, January 1.
