Dear CBA Members,
As we begin 2022 still battling COVID-19, it's more important than ever to take care of your physical and mental health. I encourage you to find ways to stay active. One option is available through our CBA Young Lawyers Committee - they are helping members get moving with a step challenge during the month of January.
Speaking of the Young Lawyers Committee, they'd like to thank you for your support of their community service project at Alvis House. Members of the CBA contributed over 322 personal hygiene items, blankets and games for the residents of Alvis House who are trying to get their lives back in order.
If one of your New Year's resolutions is to give back, something to consider is the Lawyer to Lawyer Mentoring Program sponsored by the Ohio Supreme Court. The program connects experienced lawyers with newly-admitted lawyers, helping them transition into the legal community. I've been a member for over 10 years and it's a terrific experience.
Finally, I'd like to congratulate the CBA, especially Past President Sam Peppers and President-Elect David Thomas. Thanks to the leadership of Sam and Dave and the support of the bar association, attorneys appointed by Franklin County courts to represent indigent persons charged with criminal offenses will receive a pay increase for the first time in 15 years.
Thank you for your support, and happy new year!
As always, if you have any comments, questions, concerns or suggestions on how the CBA can assist you and your practice, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
