As the new year begins, the Columbus Bar Association is reflecting on moments from the past year that highlight the power of connection, service, and community within the legal profession. One such moment was the EAGLE Professional Development Network’s recent volunteer service event with LifeCare Alliance’s Meals on Wheels program — a meaningful example of how CBA members come together to care for Central Ohio.
During the event, EAGLE members volunteered at the Meals on Wheels distribution facility, assisting with packing and assembling Thanksgiving meals destined for delivery across more than 120 daily routes. From bundling meal bags and side items to supporting food preparation and production, each effort contributed to an organization that delivers meals every day of the year and relies on thousands of volunteer hours to serve those most in need.
Beyond the immediate impact, this experience reflected the broader role groups and networks like EAGLE play within the CBA. By serving together, members strengthen relationships, build professional connections, and reinforce the values that safeguard and support the legal community. Service-oriented networking not only deepens engagement within the bar but also fosters a sense of purpose that carries into our professional lives.
As we look ahead to the new year, involvement in CBA practice groups and professional development networks offers meaningful opportunities to give back while staying connected. Whether through service projects, educational programs, or networking events, these groups provide a pathway to grow professionally while making a lasting impact in the community.
Start the Year by Getting Involved
The CBA invites members to make community involvement part of their professional goals for the year ahead. Join a network like EAGLE to connect with fellow attorneys, support causes that matter, and help strengthen both the legal profession and the community we serve.
