On September 9, 2024, the Village of Brice began filing civil photo speed citations in accordance with Ohio Revised Code Section 4511.097. The Clerk’s Office collaborated with the Municipal Court to create a new electronic process and workflow to address these unique cases. The Village of Brice is currently the only municipality or village in Franklin County to file these civil photo speed citations.
Clerk Lori M. Tyack regularly communicates with City Council and staff to report case statistics and trends that impact our community to ensure Council President Hardin, and his colleagues can make informed policy decisions. “I have expressed my concerns to Council President Hardin regarding the demand of staff resources necessary to process the volume of cases filed by the Village of Brice and support his interest in this matter”, stated Clerk Tyack.
The Clerk’s Office has allocated staff specifically to handle the large quantity of cases being filed by the Village of Brice. In 2025, 4,680 citations have been filed with the Clerk’s Office. This additional workload has caused a drain on office resources by requiring deputy clerks to focus on the processing of these citations instead of their assigned tasks. This strain has led Clerk Tyack to request additional funding for staff specifically designated to process the Village of Brice citations.
Clerk Tyack is focused on processing these citations as effectively and efficiently as possible, but additional resources are necessary to keep up with the number of citations filed by the Village of Brice.
