Celebrating Service, Leadership, and Community Impact at the 2026 Columbus Bar Foundation Annual Meeting

The 2026 Columbus Bar Foundation Annual Meeting & 50 Year Breakfast brought together members of the legal community for an inspiring celebration of professional achievement, service, and philanthropy. The event highlighted the Foundation's commitment to honoring excellence within the legal profession while supporting initiatives that strengthen access to justice and improve the lives of individuals throughout our community.

Last Tuesday’s event showcased the Columbus Bar Foundation's ongoing commitment to supporting meaningful community initiatives through its grantmaking program. Attendees learned about the work of this year's grant recipients and the positive difference their organizations are making throughout the region. We want to especially thank representatives from Catholic Social Services, Think Make Live Youth, the League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Columbus, and the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas Dispute Resolution Department who were highlighted in this year’s video. Through these grants, the Foundation continues to advance programs that promote access to justice, legal education, and services that address critical community needs.

One of the most meaningful moments of the evening was the recognition of attorneys who have dedicated 50 years to the practice of law. These distinguished legal professionals were honored for their decades of service, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the rule of law. Their collective contributions have helped shape the legal landscape in Central Ohio while serving as an example of professionalism, integrity, and dedication for future generations of attorneys. The Foundation proudly celebrated their remarkable milestone and the enduring impact they have made on clients, colleagues, and the community. The new and reelected members of the Foundation's Board of Trustees were also sworn in following the 50-year recognition. As stewards of the Foundation's mission, these trustees will help guide its philanthropic efforts, strengthen community partnerships, and ensure the continued success of programs that support the legal profession and the public. We look forward to the new and continued leadership that President-Elect Spencer Meador (Cooper Elliott), Caitlyn Nestleroth Johnson (Office of Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson), D. Rees Alexander (Squire Patton Boggs), Sarah Newberry (Babin Law), David Ingram (CVS), Erin Butcher (Bricker Graydon Wyatt), and Sydney Pahren (Vorys), will bring to the Foundation Board.

The Foundation also recognized its annual leadership transition with the installation of the Foundation's incoming president, Geoff Kunkler (Carlile Patchen & Murphy). Kunkler shared a vision for continuing the Foundation's tradition of service, charitable giving, and community engagement, reaffirming a commitment to expanding the Foundation's impact across Central Ohio.

The 2026 Columbus Bar Foundation Annual Meeting & 50 Year Breakfast served as a powerful reminder of the vital role attorneys and legal organizations play in strengthening our communities. As the Foundation looks to the future, we anticipate increased engagement with more members of the legal community and our Foundation Fellows. A culmination of our efforts will lead to consistent growth and support of legal initiatives, which are sourced through monetary support of the Foundation's grant making process. The more members of the community and Foundation Fellows work together to donate and support the Foundation, the more our legal community is strengthened and able to expand legal access, educate the public, and foster the next generation of legal professionals.
