How do I report my CLE hours to the Supreme Court of Ohio?

The Columbus Bar association will report your CLE hours to the Supreme Court on your behalf so you don’t need to do anything other than complete the course!

When will my CLE hours show up on my Supreme Court transcript?

CLE providers have 30 days to report your hours. The Supreme Court looks at completion date, not date reported, when compiling your transcript. The CBA typically reports self-study hours to the court every Monday for courses completed the previous week. Credits for live webinars and in-person classes are reported within 5 business days.

How do i find self-study classes that I have already purchased but have not taken/completed?

Self-study classes can be found on your “Purchased Courses” page on your Dashboard at https://www.cbalaw.org/For-Members/Dashboard/Purchased-Courses. Log onto the CBA website and go to your dashboard. (Your dashboard is the first choice under the “for members” tab.) Once on your dashboard, you will find “purchased courses” on the black bar on the left side of the screen near the bottom. Simply click “purchased courses” and click on the course you wish to take, then hit play!

Where can I get a certificate of attendance?

For self-study classes, you can download a certificate of attendance from the course on our website. Go to “Purchased Courses” (https://www.cbalaw.org/For-Members/Dashboard/Purchased-Courses) and select the course from your list by hitting “view course.” Scroll to the bottom of the course page and select “view certificate” to download and print a certificate of attendance.

For live webinars or in-person classes, send an email request to cle@cbalaw.org and we’ll email you a certificate within 3 business days.

What do I do if I can't get my self-study video to play?

If you are having trouble with video playback, we suggest the following:

It could be a connection/buffering issue where it’s not able to stream the video over the connection fast enough to keep up. The videos are hosted on Vimeo, a video streaming platform. First go directly to https://vimeo.com/watch and see if you are able to play any of those videos without issue. Some organizations have firewall rules that block access to or throttle video streaming services such as Vimeo. This will cause the video not to load, play or buffer excessively. If you are experiencing the same issues with the other videos on Vimeo, then contact your IT department and see if they may be blocking or throttling streaming video connections or connections to Vimeo.

You can check for an overall connection issue by going to https://www.speedtest.net/ and running the speed test. You’ll want to see download speeds of at least 10 Mbps and upload speeds of at least 1 Mbps for these programs.

If you are not seeing those speeds, here are some things that might be an issue:

  1. WiFi out of range or does not have a good signal. Move closer to your WiFi router or use a hardwired ethernet connection instead of WiFi.
  2. Using an office VPN while watching the program. Some office VPN connections route all traffic through the office internet connection and this can restrict your bandwidth. Disconnect the office VPN, if in use.
  3. Issues with your browser or computer. Updates, other programs running in the background, and other factors can cause playback issues. Try restarting your computer and see if it’s any better.
  4. ISP issues. Sometimes your Internet Service Provider is experiencing an issue and this can lead to problems. If this is the case, it’s usually best to wait an hour or so and try again. ISPs often won’t acknowledge the problem.
  5. Anti-virus/anti-malware software. This is not a common issue, but some security software will intercept all internet traffic and can cause a bottleneck.

What do I do if there is an error on my CLE transcript related to a course I took at the CBA?

We strive to accurately report CLE hours, but sometimes mistakes can happen. We’re happy to research and correct errors right away. Please send an email to cle@cbalaw.org with the following information:

  • Your name
  • Your supreme court number
  • The name and date of the course that you believe contains an error
  • A description of the error (Example: The class contained 1 hour of professional conduct, but it was reported as general credit)

We’ll research the issue and get back to you within 3 business days, and will correct any mistakes directly with the Court within the same timeframe.

How do I view my CLE transcript?

Go to the attorney portal on the Supreme Court of Ohio website at https://www.supremecourt.ohio.gov/attorneyportal

How do I find information about CLE requirements or what happens if I do not comply by December 31st?

The most accurate source of information regarding CLE rules, requirements and penalties is the Supreme Court of Ohio. Here’s a link the attorney FAQs that relate to CLE: https://www.supremecourt.ohio.gov/attorneys/cle/attorney-cle-faq/

Where are CLE seminars located?

Most shorter CLE programs are held via live Zoom webinar. Longer seminars are held at the Columbus Bar offices, 230 West Street, Suite 100, Columbus, OH 43215, with the option to attend via Zoom if desired. Please refer to course descriptions for information specific to each program.

What is the cancellation policy?

The Columbus Bar reserves the right to modify or cancel a program if circumstances warrant. If the Columbus Bar cancels a program, full tuition will be refunded. Cancellations by program participants received by 5:00pm the business day prior to the program will be refunded less a $25 service fee. No refunds are given for cancellations received on or after the day of the programs. Upon request, course materials are available in consideration of tuition paid.

What are the CLE services for persons with disabilities?

If a registrant requires special arrangements in order to participate in a Columbus Bar program, please contact the Columbus Bar at least one week prior to the course date at (614) 221-4112.

Am I able to record audio/video of the programs?

No. The Columbus Bar does not allow the audio and/or video taping of programs by participants.
