To provide a forum for Columbus Bar members to learn more about our U.S. District Court practice and procedures. To provide an opportunity for a direct dialogue with a number of the magistrate judges and judges of the Southern District of Ohio on topics of interest and concern to the federal practitioner. To build on the momentum begun in 1996-97 and continue to increase participation and involvement of Columbus Bar members in the Federal Court Committee.
A Message from the Federal Court Committee Chair
“Welcome! The Federal Court Committee has some exciting speakers lined up for our meetings this year, and I also welcome any input or ideas all of you would like to share. Under the Federal Court umbrella, we have a wide variety of people and practice areas, and my hope is that we can be inclusive of everyone's various experience levels and substantive interests in our speakers, topics, and presentations. While my own background is in civil litigation, I hope that all of you will feel welcome to speak up on issues and developments of interest in your own practice areas as they relate to our federal courts. Above all, I hope our committee presents an opportunity for collegial interaction between bench and bar, and among practitioners. Our online forum can also be a good resource for sharing proposed and actual rule changes, noteworthy statutory and case law developments, and administrative and other practical changes in our courts' functioning.” Katheryn Lloyd - Federal Court Committee Chair - Attorney at Law
