Federal Court Committee

Mission

To provide a forum for Columbus Bar members to learn more about our U.S. District Court practice and procedures. To provide an opportunity for a direct dialogue with a number of the magistrate judges and judges of the Southern District of Ohio on topics of interest and concern to the federal practitioner. To build on the momentum begun in 1996-97 and continue to increase participation and involvement of Columbus Bar members in the Federal Court Committee.

A Message from the Federal Court Committee Chair

“When people say "Don't make a federal case out of it," they're talking about us! Welcome to the Federal Court Committee. As your chair, I am excited for the slate of speakers we have lined up for the upcoming year, including District Court Judges, Magistrates, representatives from the United States Attorney's Office, and a wide variety of other guests who look forward to sharing their respective experiences in the federal courts with you, the practitioners. We are lucky enough to have a great federal court here in Columbus, and I look forward to meeting with you all each month to discuss how we can strengthen the relationship between the Bench and Bar. So please feel free to suggest a discussion topic, recommend a guest speaker, or just come out to a meeting! I will see you there.”

Phillip Eckenrode - Federal Court Committee Chair - Attorney at Law
