Summer for the Gods: The Scopes Trial and America’s Continuing Debate over Science and Religion
August 27, 2021
12:00pm-1:30pm on Zoom

Join author Edward J. Larson as he discusses his Pulitzer Prize winning book, Summer for the Gods.

The story of the 1925 Scopes trial mesmerized our nation and had significant Ohio ties: Defense attorney Clarence Darrow was born in Ohio and prosecutor William Jennings Bryan’s daughter lived in Columbus, Ohio. The trial tackled questions that are still relevant today: reason vs. superstition; separation of church and state; 1st amendment freedom of speech in education; and the mythmaking tendencies of American media. Ed Larson will be in conversation with Charles Schneider.

FIRST 25 REGISTRANTS WILL RECEIVE A FREE COPY OF THE BOOK!
