Hollywood and the Holocaust: Ethical and Legal Issues Raised by Revisionist History

Program Overview:

What is gained and what is lost when history is preempted by filmmakers, novelists and other creative artists? With clips from Academy-Award-winning movies and iconic photographs from “history’s darkest hour,” bestselling author and Emmy Award-nominated producer Joshua M. Greene explores legal, existential and pedagogical issues surrounding the transmission of Holocaust memory. The program includes excerpts from Mr. Greene’s acclaimed documentary, “Witness: Voices from the Holocaust” and a revealing behind-the-scenes look at representations of heroism, bravery, resistance, and the human spirit.

Internationally known attorney Raymond Brown will draw on his many years as a trial lawyer to review high-profile trials involving government officials before the International Criminal Court in The Hague and as Co-Lead Defense Counsel at the Special Court for Sierra Leone.
