Capital Law and Columbus Bar provide hands-on tips for developing mentoring programs

Managing partners of central Ohio firms and corporate general counsel gained practical guidance on how to use mentoring programs to develop successful attorneys in the 21st century. Columbus Bar President David Patterson welcomed over 30 firm managing partners and recruiting leaders to this seminar, specifically tailored to the needs of the Columbus legal community. The seminar was an outgrowth of the Managing Partners Racial Diversity Initiative, with a broader application to address professional development for all associates, including minorities.

Steven C. Bahls, Dean of Capital University Law School, joined Patterson in welcoming the select list of attendees, emphasizing the long time and productive partnerships with the Columbus Bar and area law firms. Bahls introduced Susan G. Manch, principal of Shannon & Manch, who held the complete attention of this group for three solid hours. Program evaluations were outstanding, with over 94 percent of the participants indicating the seminar was relevant to their firm, and over 73 percent said they would incorporate the content into their mentoring program.

The program was co-sponsored by the Columbus Bar, and special thanks go to Alison Sikora, Career Director at Capital, for her overall planning of this successful event. Questions may directed to Annette Hudson-Clay at the Columbus Bar 221.4412.
