Legal Practice Lab Now enrolling for Spring 2013 What is Legal Practice Lab? The CBA's Legal Practice Lab is a 6-week program designed to provide lawyers with the practical information and skills they need to establish and build a thriving law practice. This series goes beyond simply drawing conclusions about what makes a successful law practice; participants will walk through the "how to" of the business side of your law practice. ![]() Program Schedule & Topics Each session begins with brown bag lunch and networking from 12:30-1:00pm. Class begins at 1:00pm. March 8 • 12:30-4:00pm Overview/Top Tips Panel: What it is like starting a law practice, experiences, specific issues of interest to participants. March 22 • 12:30-4:00pm Law Practice as a Business: Employees, insurance, and other responsibilities of business owners - business entity/name selection, malpractice and other insurance, employee issues, finding space. April 5 • 12:30-4:00pm Financial Management & Accounting: Bank accounts, general business accounting, trust accounting, getting paid, fees. April 19 • 12:30-4:00pm Law Firm Technology: Computers, printers, scanners, software. May 10 • 12:30-4:00pm Marketing (Getting Clients): Networking, websites, social media, CBA resources. May 17 • 12:30-4:00pm Client Relations (Keeping Clients), Work/Life Balance & Professional Involvement: Bar association involvement, public service/pro bono, unhappy clients/bad news. |
