The Sports Law Committee will zero in on issues facing professional sports leagues, collegiate athletics, and professional athletes. This group examines the legal issues surrounding topics such as player compensation models, sports agents, arbitration/negotiation, financing venues, sponsorship agreements and media rights, doping rules and regulations.
A Message from the Sports Law Committee Chair
“The recent developments in the sports industry increased the public's awareness of the legal issues facing professional and collegiate sports organizations. These issues span various areas of law independent of the sports industry, which include intellectual property, labor and employment, and contract law. As Chair of the Sports Law Committee, I encourage local attorneys to join this Committee and learn about the vast array of legal issues emerging in the sports industry. The key to breaking into the sports industry in a legal capacity is a strong network. This Committee provides the ideal platform to build and develop your essential network on your path to working in professional or collegiate sports. I look forward to a very productive, informative inaugural year for the Sports Law Committee.”
