A Message from the Intellectual Property Committee Chair

“I invite you to take the challenge and enjoy this year's intellectual property committee by attending, sharing and connecting with your colleagues. We have an exciting year planned but it requires all of us to participate and grow and shine. Intellectual property is about creation and invention. Working with intellectual property gives you a front seat at the client's first creative spark. Rough drafts become concrete ideas. The drawing becomes a sculpture. The scribble on a napkin becomes a trademark. However, intellectual property also raises questions of secrecy and disclosure. You may have to chase down a rogue employee or enforce your client's rights against an infringing business. Whatever the case, this practice area is never boring. As a committee, we are a diverse spring of talent ranging from engineers, to biologists, to artists, writers and trial lawyers.
