WLFC Community Service Event

WLFC Community Service Event
Looking for a way to give back?  Look no further! Please join us on Saturday, April 22, 2017 to host a luncheon for the YWCA Family Center, from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

The Family Center provides emergency shelter and supportive services for up to 50 families daily, with the goal of stabilizing them until new housing can be identified. The YWCA strives to make the families as comfortable as possible during an otherwise highly stressful time in their lives, and this is where you can help.

The WLFC has graciously donated the funds to sponsor the event, but we need volunteers! As part of the hosting, not only will you prepare, serve and clean-up the meal, but you will also sit and share a meal with the families. We will serve approximately 75 to 100 people for lunch, 2/3 of whom will be children under 17 years.

Not only will you serve the families, but you will support an organization that is invaluable to our community.  In 2015, the YWCA Family Center served 1,117 families and 2,065 children.  Of these individuals:

•           51% of children were under the age of 5
•           3.5 was the average family size
•           25% of parents were 18-24 years old
•           93% of the families had a female head of household
•           $9,570 was the average annual income of the families
•           9,691 families were served between 2005 and 2015
