DAVID J. LELAND, Carpenter Lipps & Leland ,was re-elected chair of the board of trustees for the Columbus Clipper’s baseball franchise at their annual meeting last week. The past few years have seen unparalleled success for the Clippers, Triple-A franchise for the Cleveland Indians, – an award winning baseball stadium (Huntington Park) and back-to-back Triple-A National Championships for 2010 and 2011.
CAPITAL University Law School is accepting nominations for the 2013 inductees into the Hall of Honor, a place that permanently honors the dedication and contributions of outstanding alumni, friends, faculty and staff of the Law School. The National Court Reporters Association celebrated National Court Reporting last week, recognizing court reporters and broadcast captioners. Members of the NCRA volunteer time and professional skills to capture the oral histories of America’s disabled veterans. Thousands of important histories that would be lost are preserved at the Library of Congress thanks to the skill and dedication of court reporters and captioners. Nominations are now open for the OLAF PRESIDENTIAL AWARD, presented annually to law firms or individuals who have made outstanding efforts in improving access to justice through pro bono or volunteer service. Name the individual or organization you are nominating and a brief statement (250 words) supporting your selection, You may submit more than one nomination. Send to jtaylor@olaf.org by March 4. Board President H. Ritchey Hollenbaugh will review nominations and make a final selection. The Award will be presented at the OSBA 2013 Annual Convention.
BENESCH will host a premier art exhibition the evening of March 14 in support of the local arts community. The work of more than a dozen local artists will be exhibited with pieces including paintings, photographs and sculptures. All artwork will be available for purchase through a silent auction and 12 percent of each sale will go directly to the Cultural Arts Center.
