The Burton Awards, for outstanding achievement in legal writing, recently announced that Bailey Cavalieri is the winner of this year’s Best Law Firm Encyclopedic Handbook, Liability of Corporate Officers and Directors. Now in its eighth edition, the two-volume treatise addresses issues relating to claims against and protections for directors and officers of public, private and non-profit companies. DAN A. BAILEY, chair of the firm’s D&O liability practice group and co-author of the book, will accept the award at the Library of Congress in June. Other of the firm’s contributing authors include KATHY BOWMAN, BOB EBLIN, TOM GEYER, MICHAEL GOODSTEIN, DARIUS KANDAWALLA and STACY LANE. The awards ceremony will feature guest of honor Retired Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens, following an introduction by Justice Sonia Sotomayor.

MONICA L. WALLER, partner with Lane Alton & Horst, was recently installed as the 2012-2013 president of Women Lawyers of Franklin County. Ms Waller is the “Civil Jury Verdicts” scribe for the Columbus Bar Lawyers Quarterly.
