Friends and business partners BRAD KOFFEL and MARK JUMP are splitting the ten-attorney firm into separate practices, Koffel Law Firm and Jump Legal Group. The two lawyers said they made the decision for business reasons and for the sake of a friendship that goes back to college freshmen in 1986.

MEREDITH K. KNUEVE has joined Chester Willcox & Saxbe as senior counsel, concentrating her practice in the area of business, tax and estates law.

BELINDA S. BARNES, Columbus Bar past-president, has joined Gallagher Gams Pryor Tallan & Littrell as a partner defending individuals and companies sued by others claiming personal injuries.

SHAMUS B. CASSIDY recently joined Kohler & Smith as an associate attorney, concentrating his practice in the areas of estate planning, disability/special needs planning, probate, elder law, taxation, business, and real estate.

DAVE THOMAS, R. William Meeks Co., has been named to the 2011 edition of The Best Lawyers in America® in the practice areas of Criminal Defense: Non-White-Collar and Criminal Defense: White-Collar.

CAPITAL University Law School ranked second among Ohio’s nine law schools in the passage-rate percentage for graduates who took the Bar Exam for the first time in July 2010.

SUE A. WETZEL has joined the Weston Hurd Columbus office as an associate. She will focus her practice on workers’ compensation matters.

Best Lawyers has named Chester Willcox & Saxbe partner FRANK A. RAY as the Columbus, Ohio Professional Malpractice Lawyer of the Year for 2011. Mr. Ray is a past president of the Columbus Bar.

LAURA HARTNETT has joined Dinsmore & Shohl as an associate in the litigation department.

Frost Brown Todd is pleased to announce the appointment of CATHERINE F. LACHO and ELIZABETH M. NORTON as senior associates. Ms Lacho practices labor and employment law and Ms Norton is in the products liability practice group.

STEPHEN C. FITCH, Chester Willcox & Saxbe partner and past president of the Columbus Bar, has been named chair of the American College of Trial Lawyers Legal Ethics and Professionalism Committee.
