Two years ago HUDA AHMED traveled to Bolivia with a team of Ohio State graduate business students and, after witnessing extreme poverty in remote areas of the Andes high plain, the group created IDC, International Development Collaborative -- a nonprofit organization applying business skills to help alleviate poverty in a sustainable way. Since January, women’s weaving groups in Bolivia have been weaving officially licensed gray, alpaca wool scarves with embroidered block “O’s” for IDC. This fall two thousand hand-woven scarlet and gray scarves arrived at IDC (Gordon Gee has one) and IDC is strong in its role, facilitating and connecting villages to opportunities that will allow them to drive the economic development of their communities.
