Cincinnati-based law firm DINSMORE & SHOHL announced the acquisition of the Dayton firm, Chernesky, Heyman and Kress P.L.L. Chernesky attorneys, specializing in Corporate and Tax Law, joined with Dinsmore effective May 1, 2008.

TAFT STETTINIUS & HOLLISTER will open a representative office in Beijing in May for clients who need legal expertise on the ground in China to counsel them on the practical aspects of doing business there. The firm currently has both a Chinese and Japanese practice.

ROBERT G. UMHOLTZ, age 90, born October 25, 1917, passed away on April 28, 2008, in Columbus. For the past 15 years, Bob was Franklin County’s most devoted court watcher—and a close friend to many judges. His wishes were respected by the donation of his body to the Ohio State University College of Medicine. Memorial gifts may be made to OSU in his name.
