Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Civil Rights Symposium

Last week, the Columbus Bar joined forces with the Managing Partners Diversity Initiative, the John Mercer Langston Bar Association, the Ohio Civil Rights Commission and the Black Law Students Association of Capital University Law School to present the first of what is planned to be an annual event.

The CLE program explored many topics including education as the new civil rights frontier; immigrant employment rights; hate crimes; an update on Ohio Law for same gender couples; a review of considerations when hiring qualified workers with criminal records.

The day ended with a reception where the Black Law Students Association of Capital University Law School honored Mayor Coleman with their 2013 Image Award and surprised Jennifer Adair with the 2012 Image Award.
