John Mercer Langston Bar Association Hosts Judicial Candidates Event

Officers and members of the John Mercer Langston Bar Association hosted a reception at the Columbus Bar for judicial candidates on the November 2012 election ballot in Franklin County. Attending the reception were Judges David Cain, Stephen McIntosh, Guy Reece, Elizabeth Gill, and Christopher Geer, and candidates Kim Brown, Valoria Hoover, and Terri Jamison. Each was given an opportunity to address a variety of issues that not only impact the diverse bar, but the diversity of the Central Ohio community that increasingly come before the Court.

Stephen Francis and Mark Hatcher serve as co-chairs of the newly formed JMLBA Judicial Screening Committee. The Association believes it is important for those in the Judiciary to have cultural competence in, and a genuine commitment to, creatively addressing societal issues that might disproportionately impact diverse communities in Central Ohio. The Judicial Meet & Greet Reception in September served as the inaugural event of the Judicial Screening Committee. JMLBA will establish a formal Judicial Screening process for future elections.
