CLE Offers Credit for Helping the Homeless

The Columbus Bar and the Legal Aid Society of Columbus are recruiting volunteer lawyers for the Homeless Project and the Inter-Faith Clinics. In 2006 the Franklin County Point-in-Time Count revealed 1,357 homeless people. (No reason to believe that count isn’t much higher today.) And this includes families with children. Dealing with life issues can be challenging, and imagine facing legal stress without a home. We need a few good volunteers.

The Columbus Bar has teamed up with Legal Aid to offer a 3.25 CLE hour free to volunteer attorneys who will commit 12 hours of pro bono service within 12 months by visiting local community shelters or legal clinics and providing free legal advice.

The Homeless Project for CLE credit is May 31, 1:00pm to 4:35pm. The presenters are Jamie Radosevich-Shier on public benefits; Terry K. Sherman, criminal law; Susan Donofrio, domestic relations; and Dianna Parker on landlord tenant law.

If you would like to make this commitment to provide pro bono services and attend this CLE training class for free, contact She’lia Bolding, 614/221.4112.
