Minority Program Chooses Summer Clerks
The Minorities in the Law Committee, co-chaired by Stephanie Hanna and Greg Swart, recently announced that twenty-five students were selected to participate in the 2012 Minority Clerkship Program, now in its 25th year. The 2012 class consists of first and second year law students, eighteen from Moritz College of Law and seven from Capital University Law School.
As in previous years, each candidate underwent a rigorous selection process, including the submission of an application, personal statement, academic recommendation letters, grade qualification, and completion of a writing examination. New this year, each employer was responsible for selecting the applicants they wished to interview; previously, selections were made by the Committee. In addition, second year law students were now eligible for positions with private sector employers. These changes are the culmination of feedback given from the participating employers during open forums held last summer.
Thanks to the following employers who made positions available for summer 2012: Bailey Cavalieri; Baker & Hostetler; Bricker & Eckler; Calfee Halter & Griswold; Carlile Patchen & Murphy; the Columbus City Attorney’s Office; Crabbe Brown & James; Dinsmore & Shohl; the Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office; Hahn Loeser & Parks; Honda of America Mfg., Inc.; Ice Miller; Jones Day; Nationwide, Office of General Counsel; the Ohio Attorney General’s Office; Porter Wright Morris & Arthur; Roetzel & Andress; Squire Sanders; the Supreme Court Office of Disciplinary Counsel; Taft Stettinius & Hollister; Thompson Hine; Vorys Sater Seymour and Pease; and Wiles Boyle Burkholder & Bringardner.
