Duncan Aukland Promoted to Full Colonel

Duncan Aukland, the longest-serving National Guard AGR Judge Advocate, received a promotion to Colonel at a ceremony last week (pictured, left, with Mrs. Aukland, pinning on the Eagles – the next insignia is the Star for Brigadier General.)

A graduate of Virginia Tech and Capital Law School, the colonel is a long-time member of the Columbus Bar and been instrumental in the development of our programs designed to serve the legal needs of Ohio service members. Among them, the development of CLASS, a pro bono program offering legal assistance to active duty military who have experienced a civil legal problem as a result of their military service. He has organized and spoken at a number Bar seminars to educate local lawyers and judges about the legal issues that affect our service members.

He was directly commissioned into the Judge Advocate General’s Corps, United States Army Reserve in 1984 after prior service at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. He initially served as an Individual Mobilization Augmentee, then joined the 364th Engineer Group, eventually serving as its Command Judge Advocate.
