Legal Practice Lab Opening in January

~ written by Bryan Griffith, Chair, Small Firm and Solo Practice Committee

As someone who was started a solo business litigation practice, I understand the challenges of fitting in the “business of law” when I would rather be practicing law. So, I am proud that the Small Firm and Solo Practitioner Committee is bringing practice management advice to the Columbus Bar as a series of hands-on workshops lead by local professionals who understand the demands of a busy law office.

Big firms hire teams of accountants, marketing professionals, web designers, and other outside providers, but many firms prefer a do-it-yourself approach. The Legal Practice Lab workshops will cover topics to relieve the headaches of the business of law, including: using Free Google services for your firm, setting up a website, using QuickBooks, measuring your marketing impact (analytics), running a paperless office, and much more.

These workshops will be held semi-monthly at the Columbus Bar from 4:30pm until 6:00pm, starting January 25. Participants should bring a laptop and be prepared to get to work. The week following each workshop Legal Practice Lab members may join an online Google+ video chat where participants will receive information on related topics, and share advice about practice management. The series will be on-going throughout the year, and you may choose to attend only one course, or continually renew your membership to the Legal Practice Lab.

Workshops will cost $25 per class, or $100 for a package of six live classes ($35/$150 for non-members.) For more information and course details, click here or email donna@cbalaw.org. No CLE credit is currently being offered for these workshops, but your time will be well spent.
