Not Your Same Old Ethics, Professionalism & Substance Abuse

Over the calendar year the Columbus Bar offers ethics, professionalism and substance abuse CLE in different flavors. If you missed the live programs, a couple of them were video-taped and will be offered for video replays yet this month and into the new year.

Stuart Teicher: Threats of 21st Century Lawyering focuses on ethical and professional developments in the area of law that the speaker has coined as “Technethics.” National speaker and attorney, Stuart Teicher, will delve into social media related topics such as why certain types of advertisements are off limits to attorneys, ethical concerns about “cloud based” email services like Gmail and Yahoo, dangers of new locator platforms and more. He also covers the required 0.5 hour substance abuse. This program will be replayed on December 19, 23 and 30 and is CLE Easy Pass eligible.

Also offered for video replay will be the program “The Internet, Social Media and Lawyer Professionalism,” exploring cutting edge issues facing the legal profession as a result of the growing and ever-changing use of the Internet and social media. Presenters Bridgette Roman, Community Choice Financial Inc., and Mason Evans, Porter Wright Morris and Arthur, will cover how to use these tools ethically and professionally including potential pitfalls. Dr. Chris J. Tuell, Lindner Center of HOPE and University of Cincinnati, will fulfill the substance abuse requirement by discussing Internet addiction. This program will be replayed on December 27 and 30 and is also CLE easy Pass eligible.
