PACO/LASC Pro Bono Wills Clinics and CLE Update
In November, LASC sponsored a CLE to train attorneys and paralegals who volunteer at the Pro Bono Wills Clinics that are held once or twice each month. One hundred fifteen attorneys and paralegals attended the CLE. Eric McLoughlin and Bob Rafferty presented the course and Magistrate William Reddington from the Franklin County Probate Court gave the opening remarks. Becky Cain, Felicia Minor, and their colleagues at Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company hosted the event and provided a superb venue for the course.
The first seven Wills Clinics for 2012 are scheduled and enough attendees at the CLE signed up to fully staff each clinic. More clinics will be scheduled in the coming weeks.
In 2011, a total of 130 people were served via the Wills Clinics for a combined monetary value of legal services provided in excess of $80,000. Thiry attorneys, 26 paralegals, and 16 law or paralegal students volunteered at least once this year, averaging 13 volunteers per clinic.
