Third Annual National Pro Bono Celebration, October 23-29

Across Ohio, bar associations, legal aid programs, pro bono programs and law schools are gearing up for the third annual National Pro Bono Celebration, October 23-29.

The National Pro Bono Celebration, launched two years ago by the American Bar Association, highlights nationally the unprecedented way in which lawyers have stepped up during harsh economic times to meet the need for legal services by those who cannot afford a lawyer.

Ohio organizations have planned over 60 activities, including free legal training courses for attorneys who agree to accept pro bono cases; launch of a consumer debt representation project; brief advice clinics where individuals who cannot afford a lawyer may get legal advice at no cost; and recognition events thanking pro bono lawyers for their donation of legal work; and fundraisers to support legal aid programs.
