Bar and Foundation to Honor Six at Annual Awards Luncheon

The Columbus Bar and Columbus Bar Foundation will host a luncheon to present both the annual Awards of Excellence and Pro Bono Awards. The event will be held from noon to 1 p.m. at the Columbus Athletic Club. Those set to be recognized include Judge Carrie Glaeden, Jonathan W. Marshall, Ann Fisher, Richard C. Pfeiffer Jr., Doug Rogers, Nationwide Insurance’s Office of Chief Legal and Governance Officer LASC Consumer Pro Se Volunteers.

Through the Columbus Bar Awards of Excellence, the Association annually recognizes both lawyers and non-lawyers for their service to the Columbus community and the commitments they have made to increase awareness and understanding of the law, while the Foundation traditionally honors individuals and projects for contributions to pro bono legal services.

The following awards will be presented at this year’s combined event: Judge Carrie Glaeden will be recognized for Outstanding Pro Bono Service by a Judge.

The 2011 Liberty Bell goes to Richard C. Pfeiffer Jr., Columbus City Attorney, for demonstrated leadership and dedication to the principles of our democratic system of government by law and promoting the general welfare and secures the blessing of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.

The Award of Merit will be presented to Jonathan W. Marshall, Supreme Court of Ohio Commissioners/Grievances for his service in the administration of justice.

Doug Rogers will be honored with the award for Outstanding Pro Bono Service by an Individual.

Recognition for the Outstanding Pro Bono Support of a Project will go to Nationwide Insurance’s Office of Chief Legal and Governance Officer LASC Consumer Pro Se Volunteers.

Ann Fisher, WOSU Radio will receive the News Media Award for enhancing the public's understanding of the role of the law and lawyers in our society.
