U.S. Supreme Court Update: The Roberts Court After Five Years
Chief Justice John Roberts has been at the helm of the U. S Supreme Court for five years. During that time, three new Associate Justices have joined him on the Bench. This followed a period when the Court had the same nine Justices for eleven years – 1994 to 2005.
Major General William K. Suter, Clerk of the Supreme Court of the United States, and Judge Edmund A. Sargus Jr., United States District Court, Southern District of Ohio, are the presenters on April 8 for a 2.0 CLE hour seminar - U.S. Supreme Court: Roberts Court After 5 Years. They will review Supreme Court decisions in the areas of free speech (Morse v. Frederick and Citizens United v. FEC), criminal law (Illinois v. Caballes, Maryland v. Shatzer and Herring v. U.S.), second amendment (D.C. v. Heller and McDonald v. Chicago), and the commerce clause (Wickard v. Filburn, U.S. v. Lopez, U.S. v. Morrison and Virginia v. Sebelius).
