CBAA/CBF Fundraiser Tops $2,500
If you attended a Columbus Bar CLE program last December you may have purchased a raffle ticket giving you a chance to win “Alex” the giant St. Bernard. George Speaks (pictured at left) held the lucky ticket and, after a brief photo op, very generously donated “Alex” back to the Domestic Violence and Stalking Unit of the Columbus City Attorney’s Office where he will live in the secure victim’s waiting room used by more than 5,000 victims a year including many children.
The Columbus Bar Association Alliance and Columbus Bar Foundation raised nearly $2,700 from the raffle tickets and 100% of the money will go to purchase items to assist domestic violence victims including bus passes so they can attend necessary court proceedings and personal care kits for both adults and children to use when safety means not returning home to retrieve even a toothbrush.
Many thanks to everyone who purchased raffle tickets. It is not too late to donate and add to our total. Checks can be made payable to the Columbus Bar Foundation and delivered to the CBA with a note indicating the donation is for the CBAA/CBF Domestic Violence Fundraiser.
