A Trial of a Different Kind
The 3.0 hour CLE, The Basics of Court Appointments, set for Friday, September 17, is a trial of a different kind – a trial run, if you will. Judge Michael J. Holbrook, Franklin County Common Pleas Court, has organized this program as a starting block for a potential mandatory education piece for court appointed counsel. And Judge Anne Taylor, Franklin County Municipal Court, has recently announced that the program will qualify as orientation for court appointed counsel. The two will be presenting along with Judge Kim A. Browne, Domestic Relations and Juvenile Division. The topics covered will include basic requirements for getting on any court appointment list, how the lists work, duties of court appointed counsel, duties of GAL, payment for services, and will close with some unusual scenarios.
