Healthcare Reform Update
brought to you by Willis and the Columbus Bar
The healthcare reform provisions will start applying to group health plans when the plan year begins on or after September 23, 2010. So, for a group health plan whose plan year began on September 1, 2010, the healthcare reform provisions will not apply to that plan until September 1, 2011. For a group health plan whose plan year starts in October, November, or December, the applicable healthcare reform provisions will apply in 2010. However, for group health plans that function on a calendar year basis, the applicable healthcare reform provisions will apply on January 1, 2011.
For more information about how healthcare reform could affect your firm benefits plan, attend the Willis Sponsored luncheon on May 12 at noon at the Columbus Bar. Jay Kirschbaum, a national authority on healthcare reform will offer insight on changes to our healthcare system and answer questions about how these reforms may impact employer medical plans.
