Real Property Law Institute, February 4-5

Day One will kick off with a panel presentation on foreclosure law with Kevin Williams, Rebecca Shrader, Mary E. Johnson and David Hanson. The rest of the day will include presentations by Richard K. Stovall on receiverships and sales, Donald B. Leach on mortgage and mechanics’ liens, James A. Zitesman on the Franklin County Foreclosure Mediation Program, Judge Harland H. Hale on Environmental Court, and Sadicka White and Patrick D. Cornelius updates on Gahanna Creekside. Charles T. Williams will present on condominium developer failure, Gus Shihab on eminent domain, Ed Meyers on land protection tools including conservation easements, Scott Ziance on top ten TIF misconceptions and Mark A. Peterson will conclude with practical aspects of real estate closings.

Day Two of the Institute will begin with Alvin Matthews, 1.0 CLE hour of ethics, on social media and emerging issues in real property. He will be followed by David Conrad on commercial real estate financing. Calvin “Tom” Johnson, Jr. and Kenton L. Kuehnle present on secondary market requirements for condominiums; Paul A. DePascale on RESPA and Amelia Bower, on conveyancing.

Jonathan Holfinger and William D Fergus Jr. are co-chairs of the Real Property Law Institute Planning Committee. The event has been approved for 7.25 CLE hours on Day One and 3.25 including 1.0 of ethics on Day Two; 7 hours real estate CE on Day One and 3.5 on Day Two; 7 hours of (Title) Insurance CE on Day One and 3 hours Day Two; and 7 hours of appraiser CE on Day One.
