Welcome LGBT! Newest Committee Debuts
Reflecting our commitment to diversity in the practice of law, the Columbus Bar is pleased to announce the formation of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Committee. This substantive committee seeks to bring together lawyers and legal professionals interested in the different facets of the LGBT community. From those who represent clients that are members of the LGBT community, to attorneys who identify as members of the LGBT community, as well as legal professionals who share an interest in the laws and public policies related to the LGBT community. In an effort to better serve clients and the profession, the members of the committee join together to share ideas and to update members on topics of concern to all who participate in the field of LGBT law or deal with LGBT legal and public policy issues.
Co-chairs Carol Ann Fey, a family law attorney pioneered the establishment of co-custody for lesbian and gay parents, and Travis Jackson of Jones Day, intend that this committee will also create networking, social and mentoring opportunities, and support systems within the LGBT law community.
Join Columbus Bar members in welcoming this new committee during our reception, November 5 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Contact Donna Sweet at donna@cbalaw.org to RSVP. Regular committee meetings will be held the third Thursday of each month beginning November 19.
