Notice to All Columbus Bar Members: Changes to Code of Regulations
The Board of Governors of the Columbus Bar Association, in meetings on August 14, 2009 and September 18, 2009 adopted changes to the Code of Regulations to bring the Code up to date, to eliminate unclear provisions and to conform the Code to current practice. The three substantive modifications are included in Article IV, Sections 2.3, 2.4 (new) and 2.5 and in Article VI, Sections 1 and 4 as follows: (1) making clear that the Secretary/Treasurer automatically advances to the position of President-Elect at the end of the Secretary/Treasurer’s term; (2) making explicit the role of the Officers and the need for an Officers’ Meeting; and (3) changing the voting procedures for election of Officers and election to the Board of Governors by shortening the time periods involved in the election due to the Columbus Bar’s use of electronic voting.
In order to ratify the proposed changes, a special meeting of voting members of the Association (as defined in Article III of the Code) will be held on Monday, October 26, 2009 at 9:00 A.M. at the Columbus Bar offices, 175 S. Third Street, Suite 1100, Columbus, OH, 43215. Two-thirds of the voting members present at the special meeting must approve the proposed amendments to the Code for them to take effect. A complete copy of the Code of Regulations with the proposed revisions can be found here.
