In Remembrance: Longtime Sustaining Member, 1926-2009

Harrison W. Smith Jr., a longtime Columbus Bar sustaining member who for decades played a key role in shaping central Ohio's growth and development as a zoning lawyer, died August 2.

Smith’s law firm, Smith & Hale, specialized in land use and local government law, and over the years, worked on scores of residential and commercial projects, including the Mall at Tuttle Crossing and Muirfield Village in Dublin.

Harrison Smith was a prominent member of public boards such as the Franklin County Regional Planning Commission during the 1960s and the Capitol Square Commission from 1978 through 1988. From 1997 through June 2009, he served as chairman of Columbus's Downtown Commission.
