Seeking Pro Bono Award Nominees
~ written by She'lia Bolding
Each year the Columbus Bar and the Bar Foundation recognize lawyers who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to the public good by providing free legal services to the poor and disadvantaged in Central Ohio. Now is the time for the bar and the bench to nominate candidates to be chosen for recognition on October 30, during the first annual National Pro Bono Celebration.
If you know an attorney, law firm, corporate legal department, judge, pro bono program, project, or government agency that has demonstrated exceptional pro bono service and sustained commitment to providing, encouraging or facilitating pro bono service over the past several years, you are encouraged to nominate that individual, firm, agency or program for an Outstanding Pro Bono Service Award.
Awards are given in four categories: (1) Outstanding Pro Bono Service by an Individual; (2) Outstanding Pro Bono Service by a Judge; (3) Outstanding Pro Bono Service by a Law Firm, Corporate Legal Department or Government Agency; and (4) Outstanding Pro Bono Service Project. Nominations should be returned to She’lia Bolding at the Bar Association before August 7, 2009.
We know there are many of our members committed to the legal needs of the poor and generously give time and resources. Their commitment makes a very real difference in our welfare of our community. Take time to recall the pro bono activities that surround you and nominate a candidate for a service award to thank them publicly for their good works Deadline for Pro Bono Award Nominations August 7.
