Notice to Attorneys Who Practice in the Franklin County Municipal Court

The Supreme Court of Ohio has adopted Rules 44-47 of the Rules of Superintendence for the Courts of Ohio, which are effective July 1, 2009. These rules govern public access to court records and are similar to the Ohio Public Records Law, which applies to the legislative and executive branches. The rules apply to documents submitted to the Franklin County Municipal Court or filed with the Clerk of the Court. The rules include a provision requiring the partial redaction or omission of personal identifiers, such as a social security numbers or financial account numbers, that might contribute to identity theft, from a case document before the document is submitted to the court or filed with the clerk. See Sup. R. 45(D).
