Columbus Bar on Twitter and Linkedin

We have been operating in the social media space since August of last year when a members-only Columbus Bar group was formed on LinkedIn.com. As of the writing, that group has grown to 149 members and requests to add new members come in almost daily.

Recently posted to the LinkedIn group have been questions about whether loan modification companies advertising on television were engaging in the unauthorized practice of law as well as notifications about upcoming CLE at the Columbus Bar.

The staff will approve all group requests as quickly as possible so that members can add virtual networking to their arsenal of information and client-building tools.

The Columbus Bar has also joined the ranks of a small but growing number of forward-thinking Bar Associations across the country with a presence on Twitter.com. Twitter is often referred to as a micro-blog because it only allows posts of 140 characters at a time (1-2 sentences tops). Bar Associations are using Twitter to promote members, bar associations as friendly legal resources, upcoming CLE programs, other programs, and changes in the local and national law.

To read the Columbus Bar posts, sign in to Twitter.com and search for @Columbus Bar in the search box. Once you find our logo, click Follow and Columbus Bar posts will appear in your Twitter account.

Visitors to the Columbus Bar profile can click Following, to see a list of the people and organizations whose posts we’re receiving (many of whom also receive our posts). The Columbus Bar Following list includes a growing number of attorney members, a local judge, many local opinion leaders/organizations and various national legal resources.
