PACO and the Columbus Bar congratulate Kathy McGranahan for receiving The Honorable John W. McCormac 2009 Award, given to a paralegal for outstanding service to the profession.

The Columbus Bar Foundation Annual Gala will be held Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, cocktails at 6:30 p.m. and dinner and program at 7:45 p.m.

Open enrollment for the Franklin County Municipal Court Appointed Counsel List will occur in the month of December, 2009. Any attorney who would like to be considered for the List should complete the Appointment of Counsel Application.

Last week “Your Neighborhood Bar” (as Alex likes to call it) took another step forward, if a wobbly one, as a small group of volunteer barristers (including two members of a law school faculty) got potted on the premises.

At the membership meeting on November 2, a modified amendment of Section 2.4 of the Code was offered by the floor. In order to ratify the proposed change, a special meeting of voting members of the Association will be held on February 19.

Faxed or e-mailed applications are not acceptable, and the Court may decline to consider any applicant who does not submit all required items. To ensure consideration, the application materials should be submitted by Wednesday, December 23, 2009.

The Supreme Court of Ohio has announced the adoption of amendments governing out-of-state attorneys who want to appear temporarily in a proceeding in Ohio (pro hac vice). The amendments become effective Jan. 1, 2011.
