Social Network Working

The Columbus Bar recently launched a members-only group on Linked In, an online professional networking site that claims to strengthen and extend your existing network of trusted contacts. The CBA Group is quickly gaining a presence among central Ohio attorneys, boasting more than 70 members since its official launch.

The group allows Columbus Bar members to discuss issues of common concern in a forum of local peers. Most recently, CBA President Kathleen Trafford posted a question asking group members to share their opinions on the recent campaign commercials attacking John Carney for his representation of certain clients.

Additional groups are being contemplated, including one in development for alumni of the Leadership Academy. This group is the creation of member and Leadership Academy alum Matt Austin, who hopes to enable past participants in the Leadership Academy to stay connected and to continue to network as their careers progress. “The power of online networking is unlimited,” notes Austin. “Using sites like LinkedIn is a valuable rainmaking tool, allowing me to connect with potential clients I may never have reached before.”
