Brown v. Board of Education: Bar Members author essays on landmark
Columbus Bar members Dr. Philip T.K. Daniel, Robert M. Duncan, Janine Hancock Jones, John A. Powell, and Vincene Verdun are contributors to an anthology reflecting personal experiences with conditions surrounding the landmark decision that paved the way for integration in public schools and the civil rights movement of the 1960s.
The Promise of Justice: Essays on Brown vs. Board of Education assembles 14 essays about Brown and its consequences in the fifty years following the decision that overturned the Court’s ruling in Plessy v. Ferguson (1896), and declaring the establishment of separate public schools for black and white students as inherently unequal. The essays are published by The Ohio State University Press, compiled and edited by Mac A. Stewart, special assistant to the president for diversity and a vice provost at OSU.
