Minority Clerkship Program in full swing

The Columbus Bar’s Minority Clerkship Program has begun its 21st year with a Cultural Competency Seminar, sponsored by the Columbus Bar’s Managing Partners Diversity Initiative and Minorities in the Law Committee. During the seminar, forty-four majority and minority summer clerks joined Neal Semel of Diversity Matters in a presentation that challenged the very definition of diversity, how it impacts change, dealing with different people and building relationships to better achieve the goals of the employer.

This year’s MCP includes two luncheon programs. The June luncheon featured speaker Ben Espy, Executive Assistant Ohio Attorney General, and provided a forum for students to talk with past participants about their experiences with the Minority Clerkship Program. Dawn Grauel, currently a member of the Columbus Bar Board of Governors and associate at Hahn Loeser + Parks, will be the final speaker on July 18. Ms. Grauel is a former MCP participant and former co-chair of the MITL committee.
