Spring Training for Support Staff
The Columbus Bar offers the following courses in April as part of the “Professionalism in Practice” series, aimed at professional enrichment for legal assistants. The courses are designed to provide real-world, application knowledge in a comprehensive, concise format.
WEDNESDAYS, APRIL 16, 23 & 30 (noon to 1pm at The Bar)
Cost: $125 - for all 3 days (includes lunch and all materials)
Instructor: Tim W. Hrastar, Rapport Marketing
Legal Assistants and Paralegals will gain the skills that set the ordinary law firm support person apart from the expert assistant. This program includes three one-hour sessions in a workshop-style presentation. The curriculum includes:
- Time Management
- Work Planning and Prioritizing
- Communications
- Interpersonal Relations
- Effective Communication Techniques
FRIDAY, APRIL 25 (noon to 1pm at The Bar)
Cost: $30 (includes lunch and all materials)
Instructor: Chris McNeil, Capital University Law School
This Lunch and Learn program is designed to help legal support staff to communicate via email and other electronic media. Legal assistants, office managers, and law office public information officers are encouraged to attend. Items covered include:
- How email differs from traditional print forms of communication
- When to use email and when to rely on print communication
- What to avoid when composing email messages
