Students dress for success
The Association of Legal Administrators Legal Career Development Committee's clothing drive for the Northeast Career Center Junior class students was a huge success this year. Professional clothing was collected at many firms during the first two weeks of February and delivered to the Goodwill Store located at 2100 Morse Road for their Career Closet. The Career Closet is a newly expanded department due to the collaboration between Goodwill Stores and the New Directions Career Center’s Clothing Closet.
The NECC Junior class of 21 students, their teacher Sandy Cox, along with Becky Von Ohlen, Paula Coulter and Kathy Rosenberry from the ALA visited the Goodwill store this week. Each student was given the opportunity to choose one outfit of professional clothing to wear during their internships at participating local law firms this spring. Partnering with Goodwill Stores gave the students a wider selection of clothing and the Goodwill’s Career Closet was the recipient of more than 20 large bags of professional clothing donated by the Columbus Bar, Ulmer & Bern, Squire Sanders & Dempsey, Loveland & Brosius, Saia & Piatt; Lane, Alton & Horst, Chester Willcox & Saxbe, Peck Shaffer & Williams, and others.
Rainy weather did not dampen the spirits of the students who enjoyed the field trip and the shopping experience. The LCD Committee thanks everyone who generously donated gently used items for this cause, as well as Vivian Williams and the staff at the Goodwill store on Morse Road who helped to make the event a success and enjoyable for everyone involved.
