The many faces of mortgage fraud revealed
When clients call with desperation in their voice due to problems they are having with their mortgage, perhaps facing foreclosure, how will you provide guidance? How will you know the difference between the legitimate options and the scams which may ultimately result in some form of mortgage fraud? The Real Property Law Institute 2008 will devote two full hours with an exciting and well-qualified panel to help sort it all out.
Samuel Shellhaas, Esq., State Underwriting Counsel for the LandAmerica family of companies, Holly Johnston-Cook, Esq., Legal Counsel for the Ohio Department of Commerce, Division of Real Estate & Professional Licensing, and Christopher Phillips, Esq., of Wiles, Boyle, Burkholder & Bringardner will each provide a unique perspective on the issues facing practitioners, in an attempt to shed light on how these fraudulent acts affect consumers, title agencies, real estate brokers, and lenders.
You are encouraged to submit questions that you would like to have answered by this panel regarding mortgage fraud and/or advising your clients. Submit your questions by email to Brent Rosenthal at BDR@CPMLAW.com. In addition to the panel mentioned above, a wide array of topics will be provided: what real estate attorneys should know about taxes, the Green conversion of the Lazarus building, hot topics in condominium law, an owner’s primer on public utility service, and recent cases in commercial leasing to name a few.
