United Healthcare has recently introduced the new Edge series of group health insurance plans now available in the Columbus Bar Group Health Plan.

 

Edge plans provide an alternative between traditional group health insurance plans and consumer-driven high deductible health insurance plans that are used in conjunction with health savings accounts (HSAs) and health reimbursement arrangements (HRAs).

 

How does and an Edge Plan work? It lets consumers make informed decisions about the care they access by featuring an enhanced level of benefits when care is provided by quality and efficiency designated specialty physicians. UnitedHealth Premium Specialists are recognized for best practices in health care standards which help maximize affordability. United Healthcare’s user-friendly consumer website, www.myuhc.com, makes it easy for members to identify UnitedHealth Premium physicians practicing in 16 different specialties.

 

Edge plans include these basic features:100% preventative care; $100 urgent care co-pay; $250 emergency room co-pay; $250 outpatient surgery per occurrence deductible; $500 inpatient per occurrence deductible; per-person deductibles; and a four tier pharmacy plan.

 

Edge plans also allow firms to pay for the coverage levels they need by varying plan features such as out-of-pocket maximums, deductibles, and coinsurance.

 

All Edge plans include health and wellness programs, services, and discounts from United Health Wellness at no additional charge. In addition, as with all United Healthcare plans, Care 24, the United Healthcare employee assistance program, and NurseLine, a toll-free phone line connecting employees with a registered nurse, are also included free of charge.
