Why did you decide to become an attorney?
As a teenager, I was interested in the Women's rights movement. I studied this, sociology, and political science in college. Becoming a Labor lawyer incorporated these areas of interest and seemed like a profession where I could make a difference.
What experiences help you to be a better attorney?
Working representing both employers and employees. Each side approaches a dispute with a different perspective. Becoming familiar with these differing perspectives helps with the counseling of clients as well as the ultimate negotiation of the resolution. Of course, nothing is better than the years of experience dealing with a variety of clients, opposing counsel styles and the courts.
What made you choose your primary area of law?
I like politics and exploration of power relationships. Labor law involves these issues.
What makes your law firm unique?
Because of my experience, I generally can give sound counseling and advice quickly without the time consuming and expensive research done in other firms. I am proficient in what I am doing which translates into good legal work for a reasonable price.
Describe your ideal client.
A client who is flexible in his or her approach to and outcome of the issue that needs to be resolved.
Describe your personal interests and hobbies.
At this point, my life focus is my 9 and 10-year-old son and daughter and their activities and education. My personal hobbies are world travel, cycling and outdoor activities, gardening, books and films.
