BMV Law Basics
Everything you need to know about BMV issues will be presented on Wednesday, October 17 between 1 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. for 3.0 CLE hours of credit. Please note the starting time of 1 p.m. for this event.
BMV Law Basics and the Impact of DUS, NOL, and OVIs deals with the representation of clients on BMV issues, the use of BMV online services by the attorney, and driver’s license sanctions. Organizer Michael Rankin has assembled three experts to bring you up to speed on the information you need to know for providing the best possible defense on OVI.
John Guldin, Department of Safety, will speak about representing your clients on BMV issues including: obtaining BMV records; appealing BMV and court suspensions; limited driving privileges; and Commercial Driver’s License issues.
Tim Fisher, Acting Chief of Licenses Support and BMV Reinstatement of the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles, will discuss BMV online services and suspensions. He will conduct a BMV online tutorial, demonstrating how to search real time BMV driving records and reinstatement requirements. Mr. Fisher will also explain how to read a driving record and understand suspension and point assessment. Finally, he will summarize BMV suspension and reinstatement requirements with a discussion of suspension cases and reinstatement policy and procedure.
Attorney Jon J. Saia of Saia & Piatt will wrap up the seminar with his presentation on OVI driver’s license sanctions as he discusses administrative license, public safety, and conviction suspensions as well as Commercial Driver’s License disqualifications.
